Offer simple choices where possible, keep boundaries calm, and remember that big reactions are communication, not misbehaviour.

Books, songs, and ordinary talk still do heavy lifting. Name what your baby points at, describe nappy changes and meals, sing predictable songs, pause before a repeated word, and let your baby answer with a sound, gesture, or grin. Shared attention matters more than flashcards or noisy toys.
